Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, of “Thor” and “X-Men: First Class” fame, will pen the script for the remake, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Johnson will reportedly produce the film with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia, his producing partners at Seven Bucks Productions.
A representative for Johnson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Johnson has been very busy of late. “San Andreas,” set in the aftermath of a massive quake in California, earned more than $113 million worldwide in its opening weekend. The actor also stars in the box office hit “Furious 7,” and his new TV show “Ballers” will debut on HBO on June 21.
Johnson's other projects include starring in Warner Bros' “Shazam,” and in Disney’s animated movie “Moana” as the voice of Hawaiian demi-god Maui.
