In Mexico, Gunfight Between Armed Civilians And Security Forces Leaves Dozens Dead

MEXICO CITY, May 22 (Reuters) - At least 39 people were killed on Friday in a fight between armed civilians and security forces in western Mexico, two government officials said.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said 37 civilians had been killed in the clash in the state of Michoacan in an area where powerful drug gangs have been active for years.
